{"id":1801,"date":"2021-10-20T17:30:42","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T14:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yillik.kizilayakademi.org.tr\/?p=1801"},"modified":"2021-10-21T19:34:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T16:34:39","slug":"notes-from-turkeys-disaster-management-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yillik.kizilayakademi.org.tr\/en\/notes-from-turkeys-disaster-management-agenda\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes from Turkey\u2019s Disaster Management Agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disaster &amp; Emergency Advisory Board Meetings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tasked with reducing disaster and emergency risks, offering suggestions about activities to be carried out after disasters and emergencies and setting policies and priorities, the Disaster and Emergency Advisory Board held meetings on July 13 and December 30, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technical evaluations and intervention studies on the earthquakes experienced in 2020 and general views and suggestions occurred within the board\u2019s agenda, which convened under the chairmanship of Minister of the Interior S\u00fcleyman Soylu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disaster Risk Reduction Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Two very important studies were conducted on disaster risk reduction, the most important component for increasing individual, institutional, and social resilience against disasters: The Turkey Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (TARAP) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (\u0130RAP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0130RAP aims to create disaster-resilient cities and increase society\u2019s sensitivity to disasters. Prepared for the province of Kahramanmara\u015f, \u0130RAP will also be applied in pilot provinces Samsun, Adana, Afyon, Rize, Tekirda\u011f, and Sivas. The Plan will be applied in all provinces by the end of 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0130RAP consists of five modules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>General Status of the Province<\/li><li>Hazard and Risk Assessments<\/li><li>Analysis of Current Situation<\/li><li>Objectives, Targets, and Actions of Disaster Risk Reduction<\/li><li>Monitoring and Evaluation<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Investigation Committee on Measures to be Taken Against Earthquakes Established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision was made to conduct a parliamentary inquiry to determine the precautions that could be taken against earthquakes and the measures needed to be taken for minimizing their effects and that the commission that would conduct this research would be formed of 22 members.
